Autumn, yes it’s a beautiful time. The trees are wonderful array of colours, the leaves are falling creating a multi coloured crispy blanket on the ground. The animals are building their Winter nests and gathering food for their hibernation. Yes it’s a beautiful season! It’s also cold, foggy, dark in the mornings and dark early at night, my grass is too wet to mow and yet it’s still growing and my car windows are constantly wet! Memories of warm, balmy Summer nights abroad (Hi Stewart and Karen) are now but a distant memory as I put away my tee shirts, shorts, the barbecue, the patio furniture, no I don’t really like Autumn! It does have good points I suppose! The concert season begins in earnest and all of the theatres open again, wonderful memories of Halloween and bonfire nights past make me smile and wish that I was young again (yes I know that at 23 I’m not old yet) . It’s always nice to lock up the gates, draw the curtains and turn the heating up and settle down for a night in front of the TV, (even if it’s only so that I can complain how dreadful the programmes are nowadays). An added ‘feelgood’ bonus is that at the time of writing Chelsea have qualified for the next stage of the Champions League and are currently 5 points clear at the top of the Premiership after beating that ‘other’ team that Steve supports (yes of course I was there). So maybe Autumn aint so bad after all! We have been busy out on the road seeing our friends old and new. One interesting venue that we played for the first time was the Opera House at Buxton in Derbyshire. What a beautiful place! It was designed by the same architect or designer who designed the London Palladium. Add to this a marvellous crowd and the fastest stage crew we have yet worked with (thanks lad’s) and what a wonderful night we had! We hope to return there next year! On the subject of returning to venues, I would like to say hello to all of the other Queen bands who are scouring our date sheet and ringing our venues and attempting to steal our work, claiming to be the ‘best Queen band in the country’ What rubbish, you know that we hold that honour! , anyway we know who you are! Speaking of honours, we are very honoured to be performing at a very special event on November 24th. On that day Feltham council are unveiling a memorial plaque (I believe it’s in the shape of a star) to Freddie Mercury. When Freddie’s family (the Bulsara’s) first came to England, they settled in Feltham and quite rightly ,they want to honour Freddie and his family. We have been asked ,by the family to perform at this event. The event will be attended by Mrs Jer Bulsara (Freddie’s Mum), Roger and Kashmira Cooke (Freddie’s Sister and Brother in law) and Brian May. How nervous will we be? We are very honoured to be asked, I just hope that it doesn’t rain as the whole thing is to be staged outdoors. I know that I say this every time I write, but please keep sending your e mails to the website. We do read them and it’s great to get your feedback. All of our friends in the Isle of Wight, our new friends in East Grinstead and Buxton and all of you who take the time and trouble to e mail us, we really appreciate it. I see that there are a number of e mails regarding last week’s show at Kissingate. It was great to be the first concert back there after the fire and subsequent renovation, we had a great time and it’s good to know that you did too! Please keep them coming. Well, that’s about all that I can think of for now. It just remains for me to thank you for your continued support and please come and see us if we are in your area, we look forward to seeing you. Lots of love Pat xxx |
