Well,I'm back! Due ,as they say, to public demand! September, hmmmm, so where did that Summer go to? The Summer that the weathermen predicted would be a 'scorching, barbecue Summer! Hmmmm! As I sit at my computer, the rain is hammering against the window, it's one of those nights when you want to close the curtains, put the tv on and curl up with a glass (or two) of your favourite tipple. Hmmm! Well we all had a splendid Summer break, heading off to all points of the compass for our hols. Now the serious business of getting back to work truly begins as the nights draw in and the Theatre season begins. Although we still have two 'open air' shows to do yet Eastbourne Bandstand (always a favourite a great crowd whatever the weather) and at Mote Park in Maidstone, both of those shows are next week, so if you're in the vicinity please come along. Then we hit the North East for two nights at the Galtras Centre and a monday night in Middlesboro (Hi Bud and congratulations on your marriage) and at the end of the month Glenn and I are off to see Cliff and the Shadows (Shads) at Nottingham. Glenn and I used to play Shads music in our very first band, in fact i joined Glenns band The Limelights later to become Limelight when we went 'eavy! They were a huge influence on our early career and I remember meeting the drummer Brian Bennet and being completely in awe of him (I still am) I noticed in his 'gig bag' that he had Dentyne chewing gum and I thought that must be the secret to playing like him (I was only 12), so I duly went out and bought several packets of said gum, filled my mouth with it and played just like------------I played the night before, I did however get a clip round the ear from my mum who said it made me look common ooooooeeeerr! We do read your e-mails on the website and I find your comments very interesting. Quite a few of you come to see us in different venues (God bless you all) and comment that the show is staged differently sometimes. The problem is that we play such a wide range of venues that there is no standard stage size. We would love to do the full show everywhere, but logistically it's impossible! For example if we used our pyro's at the Academy at Barnsley or the Lamproom, then our front row friends would have singed eyebrows and it would ruin your perm Terry! Also when we play on piers and in wooden buildings, there are fire restrictions etc.,so you'll have to forgive us cos at the end of the day the music's always good eh? Well I hope that I'm forgiven for going AWOL from the website,as you can see I've been storing up all Summer, I won't be writing a Blog every Month,as they get boring and some of the other lads have said that they will write to help me out, Ian too is going to write his own blog 'The view from the back' which I await with interest. So please come out and see us this Autumn, it will cheer us both up, you and me! I look forward to seeing you and to hearing you cheer my solo (I pay very well for applause ha ha) See you soon Love Pat xxx |
