Mercury Queen Tribute

Happy New Year to everyone.

I realize that it's a little late, but I spent the majority of January sunning myself in Gran Canaria! It's great to be back in the cold (do I sound convincing)?

Well I hope that you all had a great Christmas and New Year (illness permitting) I have never known so much illness about!  It was great to have almost three weeks off, but I did miss the lads (it's like a marriage you know)

Anyway, we went straight into rehearsals where we learnt a few new songs,re-arranged a few and revived a few, all of which should see the light of day within the coming weeks!

Then back to work. It was great to be back at the Plowright in Scunthorpe (Hi Dave), we're always made very welcome there. And thanks for the kind comments on the 'Guestbook' regarding my solo there (see we do read them) It's always nice to be appreciated!

This weekend, we have a sellout show at Newark Palace (Big Lee's hometown gig) Lee was involved in his old schools production of We Will Rock You at the Palace last week and although I didn't see it, I'm reliably informed that he made a 'cameo appearance at the end of the show. I swear that Lee performs when he opens the fridge door! But seriously, it's great to be involved with things like that and again I'm reliably informed that the show was excellent! We look forward to welcoming some of the cast of WWRY to the Palace on Friday (please don't judge us too harshly, as I'm sure that you know the songs better than we do)!

Then we travel up to Burnley and then to the most unusual theatre in the country at the Georgian in Richmond, this is after a stop at Scotch Corner for the best bacon butties in the country!

Next week, we travel up to Alnwick in the N.E. for two nights, this is a venue that we haven't played before and on Saturday the 21st, we visit my home town-village Kirkby in Ashfield at the Festival Hall. I was born and raised in a house-shop that backed on to the 'Fez' and I can recall listening to The Who, The Small Faces and Jimi Hendrix rehearsing before their shows there! I would sit on my back garden and dream of playing drums like Keith Moon, Kenny Jones and Mitch Mitchell, sadly only Kenny is alive now, then I would go inside my house and find my biscuit tins or saucepans and I would be 'them'. In my case, I was able to live my dream, well one of them, I don't suppose I'll ever play for Chelsea!!!! Come and see us at Kirkby, we have our old mates Burlesque supporting, should be a good night!

We finish off the Month at St Neots, another new venue for us and then finally Penistone Paramount. This was the first 'theatre show’ that we ever did and so it's always great to go back there (also there is a marvelous Fish and Chip shop, sod the diet)

Well I had better close now as England are about to 'kick off' against Spain. We look forward to seeing you all in 2009, please keep coming to the shows and please keep writing to the website,we love to get feedback from you! Until next Month (nearer and nearer to spring)

  Lots of love
